ITINERARY

DAY 1 Jinghong - Menghai - Jinghong (L,D)
Pick-up at your hotel and drive 50km through the valley of Liusha River through lush tropical forest to Menghai. Its daily market is a pleasure for the eyes, where ethnic minorities people sell their local products. The small town is in the center of the tea plantations where the famous Pu'er tea is produced. Visit the Tea Factory. After lunch at local restaurant, visit Jingzhen Octagonal pavilion, the most famous architectural site in the region. Its "busu" or "chapter hall", sumptuously decorated, was built in 1701. Destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, it was identically rebuilt at the beginning of the 1980's. Further drive to Menghun to visit another minority group-the Bulang, whose ancestors started to domesticate tea for consumption. See their plantation and meet with villagers to learn about their daily life. Stop at Aini village, a minority known as the Aka in Thailand. Return to Jinghong for dinner at local restaurant and overnight.

DAY 2 Jinghong - Ganlanba – Menglun – Guanlei  (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy tropical view along the Mekong River, see local market in Ganlanba, a small town by the river. Visit typical Dai villages with their houses build on stilts, worship Buddha in their Hynayana temple, and observe true life of these minority farmers. See Menglun tropical botanical garden, hosting the largest variety of Tropical plants growing in Xishungbanna. Continue your journey to Guanlei, China exit port on the Mekong River. On the way, stop at Yao minority village. Lunch en route and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at local guesthouse.

DAY 3 Guanlei - CHIANG Saen (cruise) (B,L)
Breakfast at hotel. Early morning, transfer to harbor to board a cruise and start your journey over the Mekong along nice landscapes. At the heart of the Golden Triangle region, the Mekong flows smoothly in between Laos and Myanmar before entering Thailand. Arriving at Chiang Saen around 1500 PM, leave the boat and proceed to immigration. Lunch en route.

Acommodation in twin shared room, meals as specified in the program (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), transfers and tours with English speaking local guides, all entrance fees, room taxes and baggage handling.
