When to Visit
You can visit Myanmar all the year round but the best time to come is
between October and February as the weather during this period is
neither too hot nor wet.
Entry
Formalities
A valid Passport with Entry Visa is required of all visitors. A Tourist
Visa allows a stay of 28 days, extendible for an additional 14 days. A
Business Visa allows a stay of 28 days, extendible up to 12 months on a
case-by-case basis. Visa on Arrival is granted on prior arrangement.
Customs Formalities
Foreign currency exceeding the equivalent of US$ 2,000, jewelry,
cameras, video cameras, recording equipment and laptop computers must be
declared at the airport. Failure to do so could end up in confiscation
upon departure. Export of antiques and items of archaeological value are
prohibited.
Foreign Exchange
No Credit cards are accepted.
Vaccination
Not required unless you are coming from an infected area.
What
to Wear
Light, casual wear preferably made of cotton is suitable for all
climates. Some warm clothes are necessary if you plan to visit northern
Myanmar or other hilly regions in the cold season. Sandals or slippers
are convenient as the dress code for Buddhist religious buildings
prescribe decent apparel and no footwear including socks.
Manners and Etiquette
It is recommended that you refrain from kissing and hugging in public,
pointing at things with your feet, sitting with your back to a Buddha
image, improper use of or behavior toward a sacred thing as a Buddha
image, and touching a monk.
Reservation and Confirmation
Reservation can be made by fax or Email. Once the reservation is
confirmed, the client has to provide the naming list and room
arrangements 14 days prior to arrival. If you are buying the whole
package from us, we would provide a letter of confirmation for package
visa application in order to avoid changing FEC on arrival.
CREDIT CARDS & TRAVELLER CHEQUES
Not widely use in our country
except the International Hotels & a few souvenir shops in Yangon &
Mandalay cities. Traveller Cheques can only be changed at the central
bank of Myanmar in Yangon during office hour. It will be more convenient
for the clients to bring in the US$ cash.
Due to recent sanctions of U.S to Myanmar Government, all the credit
cards are not possible to use around the country since 01 Sept'03. So,
the travellers are recommended to carry hard cash for their own using
amount.
WEATHER
A good weather in October to February. The temperature will be 28' C ~
34' C. In Shan State
(Kalaw, Inle, ) will be cooler than other cities, 12' to 25' C. From
March to Mid May is the hot season where the average temperature is
about 34' C ~ 40' C in low lands like Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay and
about 25' C ~ 34' C in high land like Shan State. Mid May to Mid October
is the rainy season. The visitors who are visiting during the rainy
season should bring along the rain coats and medicine for stomach-ache.
CLOTHES
Light clothes are suitable. For entering the pagodas or Monasteries,
have to bring long sleeves pants (or) skirts.
MOSQUITO
Enough to bring only mosquito repellent.
PAYMENT
We perefer either TT or cash on arrival as credit card payment take a
long time to declare back the money into our account due poor banking
system. 50% of the tour cost or minimum of USD 200 per person is needed
to deposite into our account by TT once the tour package is confirmed.
The rest of the payment should be made at least 14 days before the group
or clients' arrival.
MOBILE PHONES
Your mobile phones could not use in Myanmar as Myanmar still do not have
GSM network yet. You have to left your phone at the airport at custom
counter and custom will give you back the slip, which you have to claim
back up on your departure. As your mobile phones are not able to used in
Myanmar, we are providing the telephone and fax number (if any because
some of the places like Pindaya and Lake Inle still do not have
telephone line access) for you to left with your family and friends to
contact you during your stay in Myanmar. Email service is available at
most of the hotels in Yangon and some international change hotels in
Mandalay (Sedona, Mandalay Swan and Novotel)
MEAL ARRANGEMENTS
Generally, we provide Chinese Set Menu throughout the tour at cities'
best standard restaurant. Buffet dinner and cultural show is included in
Yangon and Puppet show and traditional Myanmar dinner is included in
Bagan. One more Typical Myanmar meal is provided in Yangon and Bagan
upon the clients requests.
