ITINERARY IN DETAILS:

 

DAY 1 KUNMING - ARRIVAL (D)
 Meet with your guide and transfer to your hotel. If time permits, visit of the lively old quarter of the Flower and Bird market before dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at  hotel.

 

DAY 2 KUNMING - DALI (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for morning flight to Dali. Upon arrival, discover the Bai minority villages of Xizhou, famous for the architecture of its residences and Zhoucheng, where you will visit its local temple and a tie-dye processing factory. Later, cruise on the Erhai Lake to the Golden Shuttle Island (local temple, fishermen village, market) and drive back to old city of Dali and take a stroll along its streets bordered with traditional houses. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 3 DALI – WEISHAN (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. In the morning, drive some 70 km south to Weishan, the gateway to a unique ensemble of Taoist temples located on the mountain of Weibaoshan. Get a deep insight of the splendor and tradition of Taoism through the best architectural examples of temples and learn how to read the symbolism depicted on the carvings to understand the Chinese culture. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 4 WEISHAN – BAOSHAN - TENGCHONG (B,L,D)
 Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Baoshan via a new road. There begins the famous South West Silk Road. While leaving the mountain area for the plain, the journey will enable you to cross the already mighty Mekong River, still in its gorge, in a region where South East Asia cultural influence is tangible. Then drive another 4 hours drive on the old road to Tengchong through a beautiful hilly landscape. Tengchong area is well known for its geothermal activity and its numerous volcanoes. Lunch on the way. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 5 TENGCHONG - GUYONG - TENGCHONG (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Drive outside Tengchong to visit Lisu minority villages and the famous ancient "Azalea Tree". Lunch on the way. Drive back to Tengchong. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 6 TENGCHONG - HESHUN - MANGSHI (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. On the road to Yingjiang, which will take four hours, stop at Heshun, a village with very well protected traditional architecture with cobble stoned streets and wooden and stone houses. Stop at Lianghe, where the intact ancient house of the former chief of the surrounding villages gives an insight into old China. Lunch en route. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Mangshi Hotel***.

 

DAY 7 MANGSHI - RUILI (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. The road will offer many opportunities to make stops and visits of Jingpo, Lisu, Achang and Dai minorities villages. The trip takes about seven hours. Ruili is the South Westernmost gate out from China, giving access to Myanmar. Lunch en route. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Jingcheng Hotel****.

 

DAY 8 RUILI - DEPARTURE (B
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the border and cross to Muse, Myanmar.
