TADFANE WATERFALLS
Excursion by car to the visit the impressive and scenic Tad Fane Waterfalls located on the fascinating Boloven Plateau.
The Boloven Plateau, which was formed by an ancient volcano, is famous for its agricultural products including many coffee and tea plantations.
The plateau has a number of tribal villages, some of them still practicing Stone Age culture. They use extremely primitive agriculture tools and conduct frequent spiritual ceremonies. En-route, visit the ethnic minority villages of the Lavai and Yaheune tribes. Also stop to visit a tea and coffee plantation before returning to Pakse.
VAT PHU AND PHU ASA TEMPLES
Take a trip aboard a traditional boat down the Mekong River towards the former royal capital of Champassak. On arrival, transfer to visit the pre-Angkorian, Vat Phu Temple (6th-13th centuries). Vat Phu Temple lies on a hillside and offers spectacular views over the surrounding plains and Mekong River. After lunch at a local restaurant, cross the Mekong River and continue by car to the village of Ban Khiet Ngong. Take a two-hour elephant ride through the forest to reach the enigmatic Phu Asa temple. Return by road to Pakse.
BOLOVEN PLATEAU
Excursion by car to visit the highlights of the fascinating Boloven Plateau. The Boloven Plateau, which was formed by an ancient volcano, is famous for its agricultural products including many coffee and tea plantations.
The plateau has a number of tribal villages, some of them still practicing Stone Age culture. They use extremely primitive agriculture tools and conduct frequent spiritual ceremonies. The first stop is at the Phaseum Resort. Here you will visit the Tribal Villages Museum to learn about the tribal vernacular architectures and life of the Southern Laos tribes.
Continue to Tadlo, on the Northern edge of the Boloven Plateau. Tadlo is touted as an eco-friendly resort near the Xeset waterfall.
After lunch at the resort, continue to visit Alack and Nge tribal villages. Drive back to Pakse, via Paksong with stops to visit the impressive Tad Fane Waterfalls and a tea & coffee plantation.
KHONG ISLAND
Travel by car towards Khong Island, located in the scenic Siphandone region (Four Thousand Islands) of Southern Laos. En-route, visit the Khmer archeological site of Oum Moung. Continue by road, before crossing the Mekong River by ferry boat to Khong Island. Explore the island before having lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, board a traditional boat to visit the surrounding islands of Done Ket and Done Som. Continue to Done Khone Island and hike along its ancient railway built by the French in 1897 to visit the Sumphamith Waterfall. Continue by boat to Ban Nakasang and drive to Khone Phapheng Waterfall, the largest cascade on the Mekong River which is 6 km wide at this point, Return by road to Pakse.
