DAY 1: LUANG PRABANG - PAKBENG

Pick up from your place at 0630am. Our driver will drop you then directly to the boat pier. The boat leaves at 7:00am for upstreaming the Mekong to Pakbeng. French breakfast is served on board after introduction of the crew. After, we will stop to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its thousands of Buddha images. For lunch, local food is served on board. Free time for relaxing in the afternoon. The boat arrives in Pakbeng before the night. Overnight in Pakbeng.

 

DAY 2: PAK BENG - HOUAY XAY

The guide will meet you on the boat at 06:45am. We leave Pakbeng at 07:00am for continuing the trip up to Houay Xay. On the way, we visit a Hill Tribe village. Our guide will explain the way of living and the origins of these rural populations. After, the lunch will be served on board. Another short stop has to be made in Pak Tha for having the boat documents signed. Before arrival, we initiate the passengers to local flavors (tasting of different fruits, drinks, snacks depending on the season).  Arrival in Houay Xay around 5:00pm (possibility to continue the journey to Thailand on the same day).

NOTE : From November to March concerning our upstream program, it may possible that we will not be able to ensure the visit of the Hill tribe village because during this period because of the lack of time (Late sunrise and early sunset). We apologize for this inconvenience in advance..

 

PAKBENG ACCMOMODATION

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• For downstream, out boats leave Houay Xay pier at 9:00 AM. So please be at the customs office in Houey Xay by 8:30 AM at the latest. One of our guide will wait with a sign.

• For upstream, our boats leave Luang Prabang at 7:00 AM. Our driver will pick up you at your hotel from 0630am and drop you directly to the boat pier.

• From October to February, it can get cold during the cruise, do not forget to bring a jacket.

• It is possible to leave luggage and suitcase on the boat and take only small daypack for your overnight in Pakbeng.

• For safety reasons and according to the weather conditions, the program may change without prior notice..

 

PROGRAMS INCLUDED

• Transfer in Luang Prabang from your hotel to SHOMPOO CRUISE office pier and vice-versa.

• Transfer from Laos immigration to slow boat Pier at Houay Xay for downstream and vice-versa for upstream program.

• Crew service during the cruise.

• Admission fees for visiting sites serviced by our English speaking guide.

• Lunch on board as mentioned in the program (except for charter boat). drinking bottled water, coffee, tea during meals.

• Group insurance (Limit of 30 000 USD, 2 000 USD per pax for body injury, 3 000 USD per pax for property damage).

• Shuttle boat from Houay Xay to Chiang Khong and vice-versa.

• Visa/immigration and/or overstay fees in Laos or in Thailand.

• Accommodation and meals in Pak Beng.
