The delicious dishes characterized bold culture and tradition of the land of the charming dok champa flower. Let’s taste all the dishes you can not refuse when saying “Hello Laos”. 

 

  1. Savanakhet Chicken – Famous grilled chicken

 

 

 

Savanakhet Chicken is one of the most popular delicacies in Laos that any visitor arriving here is looking to enjoy. Dishes are prepared from the chickens which are fed pampers, eat rice, so their meat is fragrant, toned but sweet and moderate soft. When roasted on charcoal, the chicken is absolutely attractive with crispy chicken skin, soft sweet taste inside. This phenomenal dish is served with white sticky rice and “cheo boong” – a typical sauce of Laos. Totally yummy!

 

       2.  Larb – Typical dish of Laos

 

This food is considered as “national dish” of this country. The main ingredient for this dish is meat such as beef, chicken or pork, and then mix them with minced liver along with other spices such as lime juice, chili, galangal, and rice powder. The food is fragrant aroma, sour extremely attractive. Larb is usually served with some herbs to add more freshness to the dish. This is a symbolic dish for luck, so it is usually given as a gift for Tet holidays or special occasions.

 

 

       3. Khao Niaw – Strange dish from glutinous rice

 

 

 

Khao Niaw is made from a very fragrant, delicious rice,rice grain is elongated shape and white. Therefore,sticky Lao rice also has its own characteristics, sticky dish but not sticky hands. After cooked , people often warm it up in the bamboo basket. Laotiens usually eat Khao Niaw accompanied with grilled chicken and boiled vegetables with a little “cheo boong”.

 

       4. Sai Oua – Delicious sausage 

 

 

Sai Oua is known as Laotian sausage with the main ingredients from pork and popular spices such as lemon, garlic, chilli … to add to the deliciousness and appeal of the dish. With this dish, the pork will be grinded very small, then mixed with the spices to really absorb, stuffed in the pig’s tripe. depending on the appetite of each person, we can boil or fry sausage. Sai Oua is one of the most attractive dishes in Laos that you should not miss.

 

 

       5. Khao Jee – Laotian “Banh Mi”

 

 

 

When listening to Khao Jee, a street food of the Lao people, many visitors can not forget a fast, convenient and extremely delicious food. Khao Jee is actually burger with meat, tomatoes, cheese with a lot of chili sauce. The texture of the meat, sweet and sour taste of tomatoes and the spicy taste of chili are very attractive.

 

       6. Tam Mak Houng – Fresh papaya salad 

 

Papaya salad is made from just-enough-to-ripen papaya, chopped into strands or cut into long pieces. After that, mix papaya with spices consisting of 5 main ingredients: chili, lemon, salt, sugar and fish sauce. Tam mak houng is the symphony of sour taste of lemon, a little bit spicy chili and sweet, salty taste of fish sauce.
