Mountain climbing is one of the most popular options when traveling. The moment of conquering a high and rugged mountain always brings us the feeling of victory and pride. So, follow these 5 must-do tips to make an “adventure” trip more and more favorable.
- Climbing time
In Vietnam, the best time for mountain and forest climbing is in the dry season from November to April next year . You should consider time and study topography, then plan carefully for long and difficult trips. Beautiful weather affects from 50 to 60% of the quality of the trip (health, safety …). So prepare well before deciding on a long and adventurous mountaineering trip.
- Endurance training
Doctors advised that people with heart disease, high blood pressure, respiratory problems and pregnant women should not climb mountain. The days before climbing you have to eat enough nutrients, drink enough water and vitamin C, limit alcohol and cigarettes and it is important to sleep from 7 to 8 hours a day.
You can try to walk, jog, climb stairs, swim, and hold your breath before climbing in order to increase your endurance.
- Luggage preparation
When hiking, we should carry lightweight luggage with essential things. You should wear wide outfits, climbing shoes with high friction. You should also use elbows, knees protection, bring a medium-sized jacket that protect against cold and avoid injuries during the trip. Knives, compasses and flashlights are also indispensable items during the journey.
- Water and nutrient
When you sweat a lot, you will need to drink water regularly. You should drink in a small sip. For convenience, you should put the water bottle in front of your chest. Drinking water properly helps you to save and replenish energy at the right time.
In addition to the essential food for the journey, it is necessary to save high energy food (such as chocolate, snicker,…) beside your body.
- Must-have items
- Sticks: Probably a professional sticks for climbing or just a sure bough. Sticks will “support” your body weight, mostly when “down the mountain”.
- Lighter: lighters can help you prevent a lot of risk while climbing like cold, getting lost…
- Watches, Phones: These are two things definitely needed. When hiking abroad, you should use roaming mode for your phone.
- Warm, waterproof Hats, gloves: These items will keep your body temperature stable.
